'Internet surfing affects sperm count'

Spending too much time surfing the web can affect the sperm-count in men, a new study suggests.

A recent survey conducted by the department of andropathy of the No 1 hospital in Guangxi Zhuang, China, got disturbing results after examining sperms of 217 voluntary student donors from 19 universities and colleges in the region. The external genitals of 1,640 students were inspected, reports the China Daily.

It was found that 50% of male university students in the region have a low sperm count. The study further stated that sperm count of 56.7% of the male university students was “abnormal”.

In an unrelated study reported earlier this week, experts pointed out that doing household chores could reduce a man’s chances of having children.

Researchers from Stanford University in California exposed male volunteers to electromagnetic fields and discovered that exposure to the vacuuming could double the risk of poor-quality sperm. “I would advise men and couples trying for a baby to reduce their exposure to electromagnetic fields as much as possible,” said De-Kun Li, the expert who led the research
